Winter testing goes ahead for World Superbike contenders
Last Thursday, the World Superbike riders took to the tracks in Jerez for winter testing. Riders didn’t make it out on the track until after 11am, with Alex Lowes and Michael van der Mark from the Pata Yamaha team first out of their pit lanes.
Unsurprisingly, Jonathan Rea from the Kawasaki Racing team ‘topped the time sheet's’ with a time of 1.38,721. However, Tom Sykes also from Kawasaki came off his ZX-10RR in a crash which lead to the bike being returned to the pits with a missing front end and an investigation into what caused the crash.
Many other riders were not far off Rea’s time, including Marco Melandri from Aruba.it Racing – Ducati who was only 0.973 seconds off and teammate Chaz Davies at 1.39,116 seconds behind.
Below is a complete list of the winter testing times.
