Polaris plans to introduce a new electric bike under the Indian Motorcycles brand
After only closing down Victory Motorcycles in January, Polaris have revealed that they will be introducing a brand new electric motorcycle to replace the Victory Empulse. However, it seems we may have to wait at least another four or five years before we’ll get to see the bike on the market as plans are still being put together.
It has been said that the new Indian bike will have a range of 120-140 miles on just a single charge which is great, considering the Victory Empulse only had a range of 75 miles. The brand has yet to disclose a price for the electric model, although, that’s understandable when it won’t be released for another few years.
President of Polaris – Steve Menneto, has said that he wants the new electric bikes to be “fun” and that “the characteristics of the power train are going to be more applicable to be able to ride a bike in pleasure and twisties, and kind of how you would use pleasure bikes today”.
Menneto has also stated that Indian Motorcycles will also be producing new smaller capacity bikes over the next few years, so it looks like we’ve got a lot to look forward to. Hopefully we’ll get some more information on the new bikes soon.
