More great news for BMW Motorrad
Just last week, we told you that BMW had almost doubled their sales for 2016, providing the firm with yet another amazing year. Well, the news doesn’t stop there. For a few years now, BMW’s R1200GS has been a pretty popular choice of bike, and this year is no different. It has been said that both the R1200GS and the R1200GS Adventure were the two most popular choice of bikes for UK riders, (with an engine under 125 cc that is) in 2016.
In addition, it was found that the BMW R1200GS Adventure was actually the preferred bike over the standard R1200GS for the first time in the UK, selling an extra 63 bikes. The combined sales of the two motorcycles reached 2,987, and although that doesn’t sound very much, BMW’s small capacity bikes remained ahead of their closest competitor by 1296 registrations.
Moreover, BMW also achieved the highest sales in the touring sector with their R1200RT, as well as their R1200RS reaching second place, regarding the best-selling sports/ touring range.
A statement was released from Scott Grimsdall, who is the UK Marketing and PR Manager for BMW Motorrad, who stated:
“The R1200GS Adventure and R1200GS have again proven to be a favourite with the British public. The GS is an iconic brand and has always enjoyed strong sales, but the success of the XR, RS, RT and RR is particularly pleasing”.
The firm are hoping that 2017 will be just as successful, and with the extensive range of amazing bikes set for release this year, we’d be surprised if their year was anything but successful.
