Jonathan Rea wins first race of the season
Jonathan Rea has come out on top for the first race of the World Superbike Championship. It was a close call for the majority of the competition, after Rea began to break away around half way, when Tom Sykes took the lead at lap 18.
However, both Rea and Chaz Davies managed to catch up around lap 19 where they were both in the lead for the crown until the very last seconds, with Rea triumphant by only 0.042 seconds. Sykes came in third place, just 1.050 seconds behind his Kawasaki teammate Rea, while Lowes took fourth place.
