Guy Martin signs with Honda
There have been a number of rumours flying around over the last few days, about who Honda have signed for the 2017 Isle of Man TT. However, we can now confirm that Guy Martin and John McGuinness have been signed by Honda, and will be pairing up for 2017.
Now, for many this is the absolute dream team, with McGuinness having already gained 23 TT trophies, along with Martin’s numerous successes over the years.
This will be Guy Martin’s return after a year away from TT, and as it turns out, it wasn’t an easy decision for Guy to make to join the team. When Martin was asked about his return to the sport and his decision to join the Honda team, he stated that:
“Neil (Neil Tuxworth, Honda Team Manager) has been talking to me for a while about joining the team but I had a lot of thinking to do before I committed and said yes. I spent a lot of time on my push bike to and from work, thinking about what to do. I didn’t want to grow old regretting not giving the Honda a go and the more time passes since making the decision, the more time I’ve thought it is the right decision”.
Martin also stated that he is looking forward to racing with John McGuinness, with both of them riding the CBR1000RR Fireblade SP2, which will also be the motorcycles debut.
Oh well, looks as though Honda have a great year ahead of them. Shame it’s such a long wait until Isle of Man.
