Channel 5 to air Moto GP highlights

Channel 5 to air Moto GP highlights

It has been announced that Channel 5 will be showing Moto GP highlights for the 2017 season on a Monday night. This has been a very last minute decision which has been made by Channel 5 and the team at Moto GP, as the new season prepares to return next week.

This is great news for Moto GP fans, after ITV 4 announced they were dropping the highlights package, meaning there would have been no racing news on free-to-air British TV.

Mark Sharman from the team at Channel 5 has stated that:

“We are thrilled to bring viewers the very best of Moto GP and add another headline act to our motor racing portfolio with the World’s fastest motorcycle racing championship. It will be a mind-blowing season – one for the books. Completing our live coverage of Formula E and the World Rally Championship highlights, this further demonstrates our commitment to offer top class sport to our viewers”.

It has been said that North One Television, the same firm who produced the ITV highlights and the Isle of Man coverage will be producing the content for the Channel 5 highlights show. However, it is unclear who will front the show.

Manel Arroyo, the Managing Director for Dorma is thrilled about the announcement of the new contract and has said:

“With so much emphasis on British talent this year, we are delighted that highlights of every Moto GP round this coming season will be available for British audiences on Channel 5. Our British riders in every category are in top form so it should be an exciting season for our British fans. We are looking forward to getting the 2017 FIM Moto GP World Championship underway in Qatar”.
